3 Reasons You Should See The Nectars Live

The Nectars are a New Jersey-based rock band I’ve been excited about since hearing their debut single, “Heaven,” at the end of last year. That single, however, was all I’d heard from them, so when I walked into Mercury Lounge in NYC last week to check out The Nectars live, I legitimately had no idea what I was in for.

“Heaven,” as it turned out, wouldn’t be the only heavenly thing about the band’s set, as I found that for any rock fan, The Nectars are a heck of a good time.

Need convincing? Here are three reasons you should see them live.

1. They have no problem switching between sub-genres of rock

While the one song of The Nectars that’s online is a pop punk song, pop punk is just one of the genres they perform. Pop punk, pure rock, and even pop rock were all part of The Nectars’ set, and the band sounded perfect performing each of them.

So no matter the style of rock you enjoy, chances are you’re going to enjoy The Nectars.

2. They’re high energy even when ill

It’s a safe bet that if you’re a human being you caught the flu this winter. Bands are no exception to this, and during their set at Mercury Lounge The Nectars revealed at least two members of the band were suffering from plague-like symptoms. If they hadn’t made that announcement, however, you would have never known they weren’t 100%, as they gave it their all on stage, and rocked everyone’s face off.

3. You’re going to hear them everywhere soon

“Heaven” is The Nectars’ debut single, and it’s starting to make its way around the internet, but lemme tell ya, judging by everything else I heard, “Heaven” could very well end up being their “Trapped In A Box,” as I have No Doubt that The Nectars are poised to make the leap into everyone’s playlists, and even TV shows.

There were multiple times during their set that I mentioned to a buddy of mine that I felt certain songs would be perfect for placements in television shows, and movies. So while The Nectars were at Mercury Lounge last week, the could very well be heard during your favorite TV show by next year.
